Readly announces its largest partnership to date with Mastercard which involves support for a project to help fight climate change
Readly, Europe’s leading digital magazine and newspaper subscription service, has partnered with Mastercard across 33 countries to offer Mastercard cardholders two months of free reading to its portfolio of digital magazines and newspapers. The partnership has a unique sustainability aspect which involves Readly donating the equivalent of five trees to the Priceless Planet Coalition for each new subscriber from the collaboration, thus helping to create a greener future for the planet.
The pan-European partnership sees Readly giving Mastercard cardholders access to its broad portfolio of titles for an initial 2 month period, enabling them to read over 7,600 digital magazines and newspapers wherever they may be. Mastercard cardholders then have the opportunity to receive a further ten to fifteen percent discount on subscriptions to the magazine app.
As part of the engagement, Readly will donate the funds to plant five trees via the Priceless Planet Coalition for each new subscriber from the Mastercard collaboration. The Priceless Planet Coalition is reforesting areas with the greatest potential for the greatest environmental impact. It unites the efforts of consumers, businesses and corporate partners to fight climate change through the restoration of 100 million trees. This is done together with climate science and forest restoration experts, Conservation International and World Resources Institute to scale forest restoration work and collective action for the planet.
“We are extremely pleased to be rolling out this partnership with Mastercard which is unique in both its scale and nature. It is one of our largest partnerships yet and the sustainability aspect, whereby we donate funds to help forest restoration, is both exciting and reinforces our values and goals to create a more environmentally conscious, greener future.
Digital reading is a climate friendly way of consuming magazines and newspapers and allows consumers to read a huge breadth of content in the most sustainable way possible. We know that one in five of our subscribers use and choose the app for environmental reasons. Mastercard cardholders now have the opportunity to read hours of trusted, quality journalism whenever they choose, in the greenest possible way”, says Marie-Sophie von Bibra, Chief Marketing Officer at Readly.
Readly has over 7,600 digital magazines and newspapers on its app covering topics such as business and finance, technology, food, travel, lifestyle and many specialist hobby titles.
Latest figures show the total digital reading on Readly in a year resulted in a reduction of CO2 emissions corresponding to approximately 16,600 tonnes of CO2e*.
Mastercard is a global technology company with a mission to connect and power an inclusive, digital economy that benefits everyone, everywhere by making transactions safe, simple, smart and accessible.
Other brands to collaborate with Readly in recent months include McDonald’s, Three, TUI and Lactofree.
